About the index

ilovethatfish.com is a plain-language reference for freshwater and saltwater aquarium fish. It exists because most care information online is either a forum argument or a shop page.

Every entry uses the same nine sections, in the same order, so two fish can be compared without re-reading.

Sources

Entries began as copy from the site's design prototype. They are being fact-checked against FishBase, Seriously Fish, public-aquarium species pages and university extension publications, and corrected where those sources disagree. Common names follow the most widely used trade name, with the scientific name always shown.

We do not sell fish and do not take payment for placement in the index.
