About the index

ilovethatfish.com is a plain-language reference for freshwater and saltwater aquarium fish. It exists because most care information online is either a forum argument or a shop page.

Every entry uses the same ten sections, in the same order, so two fish can be compared without re-reading. Where sources disagree, the entry says so and gives the range.

Sources

FishBase for taxonomy and size; published husbandry notes from public aquaria; breeder records for tank-raised parameters. Common names follow the most widely used trade name, with the scientific name always shown.

Funding

The site is funded by display advertising. Ads are labelled and never placed inside care tables or parameter data. We do not sell fish and do not take payment for placement in the index.
